December 18 Shop. Online or offline, where did you spend most of your mad money this year?
I blame my mother. She loves to go shopping for shoes, loves picking out the pretty ones that her feet can no longer wear and encouraging me to try them on. And then it’s all downhill from there.
Amongst my co-workers and friends, I am known for my exhaustive shoe collection. When all else fails, I can always find a new pair of shoes to buy, when nothing else seems to be fitting just right.
I’m completely confident that the purchases of 2009 that total the most amount of money are shoes, hands down. So, here is my attempt to capture some of the shoes that I purchased in 2009, and sadly, I’m sure I forgot some.

The boyfriend has no idea what he’s getting into.

I am a huge shoe fan as well, though I love different shoes, as my shoe obsession stems from my love of sports! As a kid, next to my Kirk Cameron, Michael J Fox & New Kids on the Block pinups, were my Kirby Puckett poster, Michael Jordan poster & a bunch of Air Jordan magazine ads or pages from promo catalog things I got as a member of the Air Jordan fan club. The parents didn’t believe in spending $100 on shoes (which would be $200+ now), so I didn’t get Air Jordans until I no longer played basketball, and had a “real” job where I couldn’t wear them. But I always loved tennis shoes of all kinds! I wore Nike hightops in 5th grade, and rather than being ripped on, other girls started doing it as well. Heck, 70% of my senior class wore red Chuck Taylor hightops for graduation!
So I love sneakers. A lot. I’ve finally stared donating pairs to Courage Center, ARC, etc, but I still have many more than I probably should! At least your shoes are ones you can wear in your regular life!
