While doing some quick research on Facebook Causes for a client, I was greeted by a lovely advertisement from Facebook.

I’m not sure how Facebook determined that I was about to turn 36, when I am in fact about to turn 24. (March 20, mark your calendars).
I have decided that this might be worse than the targeted advertisements that Facebook normally chooses for me, such as weight loss, teeth whiteners and coupons for cupcakes.
Or, perhaps Facebook is mocking my fear of my mid-twenties by catapulting me into my mid-thirties…
What exactly is your game, Facebook?

Perhaps it’s not Facebook. Maybe the advertisers are not targeting their ads correctly? I’ve had the same oddkward targeted fb ads display (not the birthday error tho, wow!) Seems more like operator error than application error.

With my limited experience with Facebook ads, I would assume the targeting is off. I’m more curious as to how Facebook seemed to get 36 for my age… Though they were right, it is coming up soon.

So, I did a test run, to see if you were correct in your findings about Facebook ads.
Here’s what I got:
Meet Single Men
Facebook Farmers
Meet Single Dads
Meet Interracial Singles
Romance a millionaire
Protect What Matters (I was excited, then I found out it was car insurance)
I don’t know what this says about me, but no matter how you look at it, it’s troubling.
Such is life.

I am definitely most intrigued by “Facebook Farmers” – is that in reference to your prolific farm on Farmville? Or suggesting that you move from the bustling city to a more peaceful life in the country?

What do you have against cupcakes?
I got Old Spice. Smell like a man, man.
